Ellie's Angels receive the 'Highly Commended Award' presented by Lord Lieutenant Lady Colgrain at this year's Kent Mental Wellbeing Award's Night 2024.
Ellie's Angels joined KCC partners, charities and support groups to show young people across Kent how they can receive support and guidance.
Ellie's Angels are so proud of our Co-founder Jody for being recognised for the Bravery Award and subsequentially being highly commended in her category - well done Jody for beating more that 250 other nominees!
A huge thanks to Phoenix Compliancy Management for raising a huge £5,000 for Ellie's Angels! We are so grateful for the the donation from your annual charity golf day - this will go a long way to enhancing better u to help young people's mental health.
Representing our YMHA's were Beth, Hannah, Ilana, Ellie and Tom - all of who executed a brilliantly rehearsed presentation to deliver our plans for the next stages of Ellie's Angels & better u!
On a very windy mid-July Saturday, Ellie's Angels took our Charity on the road again to support the Tesco LBGTQ+ event on the Isle of Sheppey.
Attended by hundreds of locals and supported by out own Trustees and YMHA's we were able to share our campaign with many young people interested in our work.
Chaired by Liz Twist, the All Party Parliamentary Group for the Reduction of Suicide & Self Harm invited Ellie's Angels as content experts to represent young people on a diverse and subject-leading panel.
MP's form all Party's were extremely impressed with our Charity, the knowledge and support our YMHA's provide and their answers to some challenging questions.
On the 22nd April Ellie's Angels held our second annual Quiz Night which was another resounding success! With nearly 40 tables and more than 350 supporters attending we were able to raise thousands of pounds towards the efforts to develop better u and the next features.
This years winners - making a huge comeback from finishing last in the inaugural 2022 event - were the amazing 'Between The Sheets' with 60.5 points winning on countback - well done to Stevie and Jimbo and the whole team!
This February, our charity members all took part in the promotional films funded by the NHS and ICB to raise awareness of the work we do and our amazing support tool, our app better u.
We spent two days at various locations and produced three short films which will give the wider community the opportunity to hear from our Youth Mental Health Ambassadors, our Trustees and Directors about how we are helping young people to find innovative ways to support their mental health and well-being in ways that work for them.
In these you will hear from our young people, trustees and directors on how the support tool created by our young ambassadors can be used as a trusted resource and organisations will also be able to understand how they can support us.
Our Ambassadors undertook an accredited course in Youth Mental Health First Aid training to ensure that they have a greater understanding of the complex issues surrounding the Mental Health of their generation and how they can support their peers.
We were proud to be part of this pilot in this area run by Kent County Council to offer the training to 16-18 year olds, all who took part found it to be very informative.

The Angels we're thrilled to be invited to present at the National Suicide Prevention Alliance conference this year at London's Kia Oval.
Our young Ambassadors joined the presentation where they told Ellie's story and how it has inspired them to help their generation to find innovative ways to manage their mental health and well-being.
They showcased our mental health support tool that they created - better u, and explained how this tool can be accessed and used by their generation to improve their lives and also to access a diverse range of supportive organisations in a way that is familiar to them.
We are so proud of the work they do and the lives they will save.
Ellie's Angels were established as a Community interest Company in January 2022 to ensure we had a platform to build our organisation and our app - better u.
After months of hard work from our Trustees, Youth Mental Health Ambassadors and Directors, we are delighted to share that we are now a recognised Charity - no 1200825.
Whilst established informally during 2021, Ellie's Angels was officially recognised in January 2022 as a Community Interest Company (CIC). We submitted our CIO application in July and had the organisation accepted as a registered Charity today - a journey which has been less that 10 months - this is a huge achievement and a credit to each member of our organisation.
We are looking forward to the challenges our new status presents and welcome the opportunities that arise for Ellie's Angels!
Ellie's Angels were proud to be asked to join a panel of amazing speakers at this years Kent & Medway Children & Young Persons Suicide Prevention Conference.
We were able to share Ellie's story and the work we have achieved to date as well as working towards was seen by hundreds of guests both online and in the conference hall at the Ashford International Hotel.
A special thanks to Tim and Hollie from the Kent & Medway Suicide Prevention team for inviting Ellie's Angels and giving us such a warm welcome.
The Wards Children's Awards recognize the efforts and achievements of courageous children, their families and the charities and individuals who support them.
This year's event was held in the Great Danes Hotel, Maidstone and hosted by Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins with a fairy tale theme!
With an exceptionally strong list with hundreds of applicants, we are proud to announce that Ellie's Angels were announced the Outstanding Charity of the year - 2022!
Thanks to Wards, Kent Community Foundation and all of the team at Ellie's Angels, after such a short time it's amazing to be recognised for all our hard work!
Thanks to the hard work of our Chair of Trustees - Nicola, the National Lottery Community Fund have awarded Ellie's Angels with a cheque for £9,384.00!
This money will be going towards some brand new and exciting features in better u which will be released later this year.
Ellie's Angels were invited by Organisers Keith & Nicola Reynolds to promote our work and better u at the 2022 Iwade Rock Charity Music Festival on a hot and sunny Saturday!
As well as being able to share our mission with the 2000 festival goers, Keith & Nicola announced that we were to be one of the events beneficiaries this year alongside other important charities.
At the peak of the afternoon and between two amazing bands, Ellie's Angels were invited on stage to share Ellie's story and the work we do with Keith following up with some questions for the team.
We had a Raffle, Name The Dog and Guess The Sweets In The Jar games which were all well supported by the crowds. The winners were;

Ellie's Angels held our first major event on a warm Saturday night at the Grand Quee Suite in Lordswood - a fund-raising quiz night!
We were joined by nearly 300 guests at 30 tables who battled through the 10 rounds to become our first quiz winner.
Team Sheppey Stinkers took the crown with an impressive 84.5 out of 100 - well done you guys!
With table sales and the generosity of guests supporting the raffle and games on the night, we raised a staggering £3,041.31 which will be going towards the next features on our better u app.
A huge thanks to all of our Angels and Trustees for their support in planning and on the night - here's to the next quiz, Round 2!
Our Youth Mental Health Ambassadors were proud to represent Ellie's Angels at the Homewood School and Sixth Form Centre for their market place event. It was another great opportunity to raise awareness and show young people how the work they are doing and how better u is supporting their generation.
Ellie's Angels were recently invited to spend time with our local Sittingbourne & Sheppey MP Gordon Henderson to share our aims and discuss how better u was helping young people in our community. Gordon was excited to hear how far we have come in so little time and how our work was reaching the community and offered valuable advice on how we can engage with young people and grow.
Shortly after, Ellie's Angels met the Chair of the Try Angle Awards - Sir Roger Gale who joined the panel on the recent BBC Politics Show in his capacity as North Thanet MP where Marcella Whittingdale presented our work and the launch of better u. Sir Roger was kind enough to share his thoughts, endorse better u and discuss how we continue to develop and help young people in our community and further afield.
HeadStart Kent is part of Kent County Council’s Integrated Children’s Services and aims to help young people cope better when faced with difficult circumstances in their lives, preventing them from experiencing common mental health problems.

ITV's Tony Green joined Ellie's Angels for the second news feature to be filmed in a week as the launch of better u spreads far and wide!
This time, Jody, Nicola and Mark were joined by Youth Mental Health Ambassadors Hannah and Karine as well as Trustee Beth!

Some of our Youth Mental Health Ambassadors - Ilana, Tom and Caitlin, along with one of our Trustees - Nicola and Directors Jody and Mark were interviewed and discussed the benefits and key features of the new App.
Shown for the first time on the Politics Show on BBC One South East, the feature was then discussed by the studio panel hosted by the BBC's Charlotte Wright with guests Sir Roger Gale - Conservative MP and Caroline Cornell - Labour, Former Parliamentary Candidate.

February brought Ellie's Angels together for a detailed strategy meeting and to review all the hard work and achievements to date.
The team were joined by our Trustees as we discussed our successes as well as the opportunities ahead. Phase two of the App - better u was already a hot topic with everyone keen to put forward some new ideas ahead of the forthcoming launch.
We were also privileged to welcome HeadStart - part of Kent County Councils Integrated Children's Services as guest speakers, we considered future presentations both County and UK-wide where Ellie's Angels could share our progress and promote better u to other charities and children's service groups.
better u - our new mental health App, Ellie's Angels headed to Big Jam Studios to record our version of Love is a Compass which will play over Ellie's story as users open the App for the first time.
Hannah, Karine, Ellie-Jo and Jody took part in recording the track on the day but so much of the work had been done before with countless rehearsals. Hannah had perfected the instrumentals and Karine, Ellie-Jo and Hannah again practicing the vocals in the weeks leading up to the recording.
Jody joined them on the day and after more than three hours of hard work, tears and laughter and the magical touch of Kevin Thorpe - Big Jam Studios Director, we listened to our new track back for the first time!

Just before Christmas, Ellie's Angels were invited to take part in a new work from Ben Akers - Director / Writer of OurKidsOurLives, a documentary which explores the mental health of young people in today's society and the challenges they face.
Ben co-founded Talk Club - helping the mental health of all men and produced his first documentary 'Steve' after losing his best friend to suicide.
Ellie's Angels were thrilled to be invited to join the DMC 10 mile Charity Walk this year! Nearly 20 of our Angels joined a large crowd of walkers from DMC with a joint goal to raise awareness of mental health in our community.
Starting from DMC NHS Healthcare in Rainham Kent, the excited walkers left in high spirits shortly before 10am and by midday the group had already reached the middle checkpoint at DMC Iwade to applause and encouragement from supporters.
A quick refuel of cupcakes and water saw the group depart once again and now heading for DMC Sheppey and the 10 mile finish line!
By 2pm the last few had reached their goal crossed the line to further cheers and congratulations from onlookers!
Well done to all the walkers that took part, an amazing achievement and a wonderful way to raise awareness!
